Dr. Venna Bishop
Originally from Nebraska, Venna values her farm heritage and religious upbringing. Her parent’s country church and school are still a viable part of her hometown community. She was only twelve years old when she gave her first speech, which took place at a 4-H speech contest. She won! She continued to give award-winning speeches, sharing her faith at 4-H, school, and various church events. Motivating and inspiring others comes naturally to Venna, it’s part of her DNA!
Today Venna continues to inspire others with same angelic spirit she possessed in her youth. She is especially respected as a speaker for her Biblical expertise on angels and appeared in an ABC-TV Special “In Search of Angels”.
Unique career path:
Venna developed a unique niche and continued to share her faith by creating multiple careers from her volunteer activities. Her “surprise flying angel landing” on Dr. Robert H. Schuller’s Hour of Power world wide television program launched her most popular title, It’s Not How You Fly, It’s How You LAND! Venna’s commitment to perform as a “Flying Angel” in pageants led her to create a career selling angel products, as a manufacturer’s representative, long before angels were popular. Her sales calls often became a way of ministering to others about the Biblical essence of angels. She became known internationally as the “Angel lady rep.”
Venna’s desire to acknowledge the cooperative spirit and teamwork involved in working with volunteers became the inspiration for her writing endeavors. Her recent book “Behind the Scenes – Photos + Stories=Glory Pageants” was the motivation for pursuing a Doctorate of Ministry degree. The book became and integral part of her dissertation and is the only historical pictorial account of the Glory pageants, attended by over 3 million people. Venna also wrote the 1st and 2nd editions of “Glory Stories” and is a contributing author to “Stories from a Soldier’s Heart” and “Getting Along with Almost Anybody”
Venna earned a Doctorate in Ministry Degree in Homiletics/Communication from the California Graduate School of Theology including additional emphasis on Christian education, church growth, leadership, and spiritual formation.
Most satisfying accomplishment:
As a mother of two sons, she emphasized the importance of integrity and accepting responsibility. Both of them achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and earned religious Pro Deo et Patria awards. Her son Brian was later chosen as the Commander/Leader of the United States Air Force Thunderbird Flying Demonstration Team and continues to serve his country as a Major General. Her son Tony lights up a team of cast members for the San Jose Opera and Symphony at the majestic California Theater. He is an accomplished Celtic whistle player and plays at religious events celebrating the “Kirkin’ O the Tartan”.
Most thrilling adventure:
Venna has experienced many adventures in her life, but perhaps the most thrilling
was when she skydived with the United States Army Golden Knights Parachute team!
